I recently applied for a card (I did not have one before), I notice there is a 40% interest rate. I immediately paid off the balance and canceled the card much to the dismay of customer service. They tried hard to convince me to keep the card as it would reflect negatively on my credit history. They wanted me to feel like I was being differenct. Am I, do most people pay that high rate?
I owe no one, and intentionally have zero credit cards. I'm entirely comfortable with the concept of living within my means, and see no reason why I should pay extra just for the chance to buy something that I don't need.
That said, there is some truth to the fact that it can negatively effect your credit. I recently had a credit report come back with a "0" credit score, because I don't carry a rolling balance. Not everyone looks at your total credit history when considering you as a customer/borrower. You might consider keeping a low-interest account open, just so that lenders can see you're still an active participant in the economy.

I own a sign business and a customer of mine owes me money. The account is past due. The customer is a Nebraska Corporation called Nebraska Technical Services or NTS.
Is there any way I can let the credit bureaus know that they own me money so it shows on their corporate credit report?
P.S. I have already filed with the BBB and am considering taking the to small claims court.
It they are a business, they would probably be registered with Dunn & Bradstreet. It's not likely that as a business or corporation, they would have a conventional "credit report".
You will probably have to place them with a collection agency. The money that they owe you would then show on their D&B which can hurt them when they try to get credit from other businesses.
Small Claims court could work depending on how much they owe you. But just know even if you were to be awarded a judgement, doesn't mean you automatically get the money. You almost always have to fight to get that. But again, it should at least show as a negative item on their D&B.
