I'll put it this way "The more one makes, the more one spends". Even the people who seem to have everything owe a LOT of money. One person in the household must take charge of the money, lay out a budget plan, and stick to it, or there will be no light at the end of the tunnel. Incressing the income is not the answer! You should know yourself that cutting the budget is the only way to fix the problem. The one thing you can do to make more money is to take on a part time job. Moving into a cheaper home will help cut costs, but as i said before "the more you make, the more you spend". Any habits in the family that can be done without will also help. Consolidate the bills into one at a lower interest rate will also help cut the money going out, but I can't stress enough, Budget, Budget, and Work more is the only way you can get a handle on the situation. Good Luck!

It is commonly imagined that in recent years the rampant growth of consumer credit has lured American consumers into a crippling state of indebtedness, a state that has upended old cultural values of Puritan thrift and stimulated a frenzy of consumption. Drawing on the sociological concept of ¿government` and informed by a historical perspective, Marron presents a much more complex and nuanced reality. From its early antecedents in nineteenth century salary lending and instalment selling, she shows how the emergence and growth of consumer credit in the United States have always been subject to shifting regimes of control and regulation.

Can I re-activate my friend's old Tracfone and use it for me?
Okay, so my friend switched phones and is no longer using her Tracfone. She gave me her Tracfone as a gift. Of course, it is now unregistered and has no service.
Is it possible for me to re-activate the phone, get a new number and purchase minutes for the phone? or do I have to buy a new, unused Tracfone altogether?
Thanks.

I have a Capital One no hassle miles. I really like it, it's real easy to redeem. Their best program is 2% rewards but they have a small annual fee of $35. Is there any better program with a higher amount of miles? I spend about $150,000 a year on my credit card
The Escape card from Discover offers a better reward for over two years. It's also a 2% card, but with a bonus 1,000 miles each month you make purchase, for the first 25 months. So, you get 12,000 extra "miles" (each worth 1 cent, so $120.00 extra in rewards) each year for the first two years. The annual fee is $60. So for an extra $25 fee you get an extra $120 in rewards. So, a little better, but it is a Discover card, which may not be accepted everywhere you normally spend.
One other consideration is that with your Capital One card, you really only get the full 2% reward if you purchase airline tickets that cost $600+ or close to $350 (due to the tiered redemption structure). However, with the Escape card from Discover, you always get the full 2% reward, since 10,000 points always convert to a $100 travel credit (no tiering).
Depending on what you spend your $150K on each year, you might also consider other cards with higher category-specific rewards that line up with the bulk of your spending. You could try the rewards calculator at http://www.creditcardtuneup.com/ to see what it comes up with.

Old Mortgage company reporting me years after selling house?
I owned a house, financed through GMAC mortgage from 2001 to 2005, when I sold it. Years go by, nothing wrong. As of January this year, they reported me for being delinquent on a single mortgage payment... 3 yrs later.
I started the process of a home loan app today with another company and they tell me I currently have a mortgage loan, for the exact amount of my old mortgage. I keep tabs on my credit using equifax.com and I had never seen antyhing. Today I check back, and now it shows I have a $130,000 mortgage (amount of my old house) to some comapny I've never heard of. In fact, there seems to be a few names involved - my credit report shows "NetBank" and the person processing my app shows RBMG, and I also saw a Resource Mortgage somewhere too. The only phone number I found is busy all of the time. I googled the address and it leads to south carolina consumer protection agency.
All of this is really weird. Anyone seen this before or have any idea what is going on?
We pull a "tri-merge" report so just because it didn't show up on Transunion does not mean it will not show up on the other two reports.

The credit derivatives industry has come under close scrutiny over the past few years, with the recent financial crisis highlighting the instability of a number of credit structures and throwing the industry into turmoil. What has been made clear by recent events is the necessity for a thorough understanding of credit derivatives by all parties involved in a transaction, especially traders, structurers, quants and investors. Fully revised and updated to take in to account the new products, markets and risk requirements post financial crisis, Credit Derivatives: Trading, Investing and Risk Management, Second Edition, covers the subject from a real world perspective, tackling issues such as liquidity, poor data, and credit spreads, to the latest innovations in portfolio products, hedging and risk management techniques. The book concentrates on practical issues and develops an understanding of the products through applications and detailed analysis of the risks and alternative means of trading. It provides: a description of the key products, applications, and an analysis of typical trades including basis trading, hedging, and credit structuring; analysis of the industry standard ‘default and recovery’ and Copula models including many examples, and a description of the models’ shortcomings; tools and techniques for the management of a portfolio or book of credit risks including appropriate and inappropriate methods of correlation risk management; a thorough analysis of counterparty risk; an intuitive understanding of credit correlation in reality and in the Copula model. The book is thoroughly updated to reflect the changes the industry has seen over the past 5 years, notably with an analysis of the lead up and causes of the credit crisis. "Cam Donaldson demonstrates in straightforward language how central economics is to the future of health care in Canada, the UK and internationally. This is economics with a human - and humane - face. Everyone concerned about health care needs to read this book." Professor Anthony J. Culyer, University of Toronto, Canada, and University of York, UK"Cam Donaldson is an excellent, provocative economics writer who can tell it like it is and engage people in the big issues of the day. Anyone who pays for or manages health services will benefit from this book, including every clinician and every citizen." Sir Muir Gray, NHS Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention programme, UKThe credit cruch is a threat to publicly funded health care, World-leading health economist Cam Donaldson defends our systems on the same basis as those who seek to erode public services, namely, that of economic efficiency. However, protecting government funding of health care is not enough. Donaldson goes on to show how we can get more out of our systems by addressing issues of value for money. The issues addressed in the book have global appeal, and, given its accessible style, will be attractive to general readers as well as health professionals and health policy specialists.

The third edition of Banking and Financial Services Law is extensively recast in light of the significant restructuring of financial services regulation as a result of the enactment of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010. The casebook takes a fully integrated, problem-oriented approach to the subject. With its focus on the interactions and crossovers within the financial services industry, it offers students and professors an opportunity to explore the issues that are redefining law and regulation in this area. It covers supervision and regulation of the full range of the depository institutions industry?commercial banks, savings associations, credit unions, and other financial services firms including securities and insurance companies. The book contains over 460 detailed problems and notes that are accessible yet challenging. The problems and notes have been repeatedly tested and refined over the course of almost thirty years of intensive teaching at five different schools. Malloy has included an extensive bibliography keyed to the subject matter of each chapter. The book is designed to serve either as a casebook for a standard course in financial services regulation or as a basic reading-and-resource text for an advanced seminar. A Statutory Supplement is available, and an electronic Teacher`s Manual offers hand-in-hand guidance to the themes and issues covered by the casebook and detailed practical explanations of every problem and note.

Collector Won't Answer or Call Back. Who Do I Call?
I have an old bill that I forgot about, I don't even know where it's from, but according to my credit report, it's being collected by Asset Management Outsourcing. I filled out the form to be called back three times and I've called many numbers, only to be lead to an automated answering service. I've left several messages and no one has called back.
I want to contact credit bureaus to either get the information about how to contact them or who to contact if that debt is no longer with that collection agency.
Every site I go to, it's all an add to get a credit report. Under the site map, I can't find anything relevant to my situation.
Who do I call to figure out where this debt came from and who is now the collector in charge of collecting it? I don't even remember how I might've accumulated this bill. It's really small, too. Just $150. I definitely would've paid that had I know it were there.
Thanks in advance!
If they won't respond, then dispute the debt with the credit bureaus. If this firm won't validate the debt, then it must be removed from your credit reports. Here's how to dispute: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre21.shtm
